Ingredient transparency

Allergy policy

Important guidance for customers with food allergies, intolerances or sensitivities to cosmetic and household-product ingredients.

Last updated29 August 2026Applies toVelaCart UK website
Pre-launch transparency

VelaCart's seller and contact details are published. Checkout, live stock, payment, fulfilment and product-compliance controls must still be completed before accepting an order.

Current ordering status

Every food and supplement listing offered for sale must be matched to current supplier information and the physical UK pack, including ingredients and allergen declarations. If reliable information is unavailable, the item must not be sold.

The 14 regulated food allergens

UK food information rules require clear information where any of the following allergens are used as ingredients:

  • Celery; cereals containing gluten (such as wheat, rye, barley and oats); crustaceans; eggs; fish; lupin; milk.
  • Molluscs; mustard; peanuts; sesame; soybeans; sulphur dioxide and sulphites above the legal threshold; tree nuts.

Before buying or consuming

Customers with an allergy or intolerance should read the online ingredient and allergen information before purchase and read the label again when the item arrives. Do not rely only on a product name, photograph, previous purchase or a 'free from' search result.

Recipes, factories and precautionary 'may contain' statements can change. If the information is missing, unclear or different from the delivered pack, do not use the product until the manufacturer or VelaCart has confirmed the current details.

Online allergen information

For prepacked food sold online, required food information must be available before purchase, except the durability date, and all mandatory information must be available at delivery. VelaCart will not knowingly substitute a food product where the allergen profile differs without the customer's informed agreement.

Any allergen filters or category labels are shopping aids only; they do not replace the full ingredients list and precautionary statements.

Beauty, skincare and household sensitivities

Cosmetics, fragrances, hair products, detergents and cleaning products can also cause irritation or allergic reactions. Review the complete ingredient or chemical label and follow any patch-test, glove, ventilation and first-aid instructions.

Terms such as 'gentle', 'natural', 'hypoallergenic' or 'for sensitive skin' do not guarantee that a product is suitable for every person.

Storage and handling

Products will be stored and dispatched in their original sealed packaging where supplied that way. VelaCart will not make an unauthorised 'allergen-free' claim and will investigate damaged, opened or incorrectly labelled items.

The final operating procedure will cover supplier changes, batch traceability, complaints and product recalls before sales begin.

If a reaction occurs

Stop using or eating the product. Follow the customer's personal emergency plan and seek medical help appropriate to the symptoms. A severe reaction, breathing difficulty, collapse or rapidly worsening symptoms requires emergency assistance.

Keep the product, packaging, order details and batch code so the issue can be investigated, and contact velacart.co.uk@gmail.com.

Official guidance used

These customer-facing explanations were prepared with current official UK guidance. The final trading policies should be checked against VelaCart's actual business model and professional advice before launch.
