VelaCart's seller and contact details are published. Checkout, live stock, payment, fulfilment and product-compliance controls must still be completed before accepting an order.
Current ordering status
VelaCart opens live ordering only when secure Stripe Checkout, webhook confirmation, fresh supplier stock checks and fulfilment operations are connected. If the checkout button is unavailable, VelaCart does not request card details, authorise charges, take deposits or accept an order.
Currency and the amount payable
When checkout is enabled, all customer-facing prices will be shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and will include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges, discounts and the final total will be shown clearly before a customer confirms payment.
The £40 collection ceiling applies to each individual product or selectable variation; it is not a basket limit and does not include delivery unless checkout says otherwise.
No hidden mandatory charges
The first price a live customer sees must include every mandatory fee, tax or charge that can be calculated at that point. If a mandatory charge cannot yet be calculated, its existence and how it will be calculated will be made prominent with the price.
Optional extras will not be preselected. The final checkout control will clearly state that placing the order creates an obligation to pay, and the complete total will be visible immediately before that action.
Accepted payment methods
VelaCart plans to accept eligible debit cards, credit cards and supported digital wallets through Stripe Checkout. Only methods displayed by Stripe for the customer's device and transaction will be accepted. The customer must be authorised to use the selected method and provide accurate billing and delivery information.
VelaCart will not request payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, bank transfer to a personal account, or a link sent outside the official checkout unless that method is expressly added to this policy and shown securely on velacart.co.uk.
Authorisation and order acceptance
A payment may be authorised or reserved when an order is placed and captured when the order is accepted or dispatched, according to the method shown at checkout. Payment authorisation does not by itself mean that VelaCart has accepted the order.
If authorisation fails, expires or is declined, the customer may need to choose another method. Banks and payment providers control the timing of pending authorisations and their release.
Payment security and card data
The live shop will use Stripe Checkout, which supports applicable payment-security and card-industry requirements. Complete card details must be entered only on Stripe's secure checkout page and must never be sent to VelaCart by email, chat or a return form.
VelaCart receives payment status, transaction references and the customer and delivery information needed to process the order. VelaCart does not receive or store the complete card number or card security code.
Refunds, duplicate charges and disputes
Approved refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method. Processing time after VelaCart issues a refund depends on the provider and the customer's bank.
Customers should contact VelaCart promptly about an unrecognised, duplicate or incorrect charge so it can be investigated. Using the card provider's dispute process does not remove legal rights, but customers should not knowingly seek both a VelaCart refund and a chargeback for the same amount.
Fraud prevention
The live checkout may use proportionate identity, address, payment and fraud checks. An order may be delayed, declined or cancelled where checks fail or unauthorised activity is reasonably suspected. This processing supports contract fulfilment, legal compliance and VelaCart's legitimate interests in preventing fraud and protecting customers and the business.
